An innovation competition on cooperation opportunities for the China Center for Cooperation on Special Economic Zones in BRICS Countries was recently held in Qiantang district, Hangzhou, bringing together international students from 11 countries, including Russia, India, Brazil, South Africa, Iran and Ethiopia.
The event, which featured proposal pitching, expert review, and award presentations, encouraged participants to explore new pathways for BRICS cooperation, aiming to shed light on the perspectives of young people.
Students put forward ideas focusing on the digital economy, green infrastructure, poverty reduction, and cultural exchange, highlighting the role of industrial collaboration and people-to-people ties.
A Malaysian participant noted that Qiantang's industrial "five-pillar" strategy and "dual-park 2.0" model offer valuable references for BRICS cooperation, while an Iranian student pointed to strong complementarities between Iran's development needs and Qiantang's strengths in smart manufacturing, new energy vehicles, and digital logistics.
Experts said the proposals went beyond just economic growth — they also addressed social inclusion and cultural understanding, offering practical insights for advancing BRICS special economic zone cooperation.
