Cuba envoys and overseas student representatives, 13 in total, visited Hangzhou and other places in Zhejiang in the company of soft breeze and exuberant trees in early summer. The activity was organized by Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. The delegation, including Cuba Ambassador to China Carlos Miguel Pereira Hernández and Consul-General of the Republic of Cuba in Shanghai Néstor Torres, visited Hangzhou Lianhua Huashang Group, Hangzhou City Planning Exhibition Hall and Hangzhou City Brain Operation Command Center from June 3 to 5, appreciating the city’s history and humanity, character, development of “Digital & Intelligent Hangzhou”, and achievements in reform and development.
Zhou Shu, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Hangzhou Municipal Government, introduced the friendly exchanges between Hangzhou and Cuba and welcomed the ambassador and the consul-general to the 4th Hangzhou International Day. Carlos said the rapid development of China has attracted worldwide attention, which is of great learning and guiding value to Cuba since they are also carrying out reform and opening-up. He wished to strengthen the trade contacts between China and Cuba and welcomed Chinese enterprises to invest in Cuba to provide products and services. Hangzhou is not only a famous city with long history and profound culture but a city full of innovation and vitality. As Hangzhou International Day serves as a significant carrier and platform for the unceasing development and change of the city, Carlos looked forward to showing the national image of Cuba through the platform, making more Chinese, especially Hangzhou friends, have a better understanding of Cuba.
The delegation also inspected Century Mart’s Whale Store. Carlos confirmed Lianhua Huashang Group as a famous mall and supermarket group in China and expected win-win collaboration in chain supermarkets and product import and export.
The delegation knew better about the innovation, vitality and modern governance achievements of Hangzhou through promotion videos, guide’s interpretation, as well as on-site experience and interaction at Hangzhou City Planning Exhibition Hall and Hangzhou City Brain Operation Command Center.
Zaneti, an oversea student of Zhejiang University, said Hangzhou government has made great effort to promote the living standard of its citizens, including foreigners. Transportation, shopping, medical care… everything is just so convenient. She always feels safe here in Hangzhou.
Reyder, from Beijing Jiaotong University praised Hangzhou for its developed economy, advanced technology and beautiful scenery. The perfect integration of nature, culture, history and new technology is worth learning.
Anabel from Zhejiang University of Science & Technology saw this visit as a precious chance to gain an in-depth understanding of CPC history, as well as the progress and successful experience of China. She also spoke highly of the great progress Zhejiang and China have made against COVID-19, which has caused serious impact on the whole world.
