The Argentina China Exchange Council and the LAC China Business Federation Initiation Ceremony Kicks off Virtually

(hangzhou.com.cn) The Argentine Chinese Council and the LAC China Business Federation Initiation Ceremony kicked off in Hangzhou virtually on the evening of September 8. Zou Xiaoli, Chinese Ambassador to Argentina, and Bernadia, Secretary General of UCLG ASPAC, were invited to the ceremony by Secretariat of UCLG ASPAC Committee on Belt and Road Local Cooperation (BRLC). Gu Chunxiao, Deputy Secretary General of Hangzhou Municipal Government, and Zhou Shu, Secretary General of BRLC and Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Hangzhou Municipal Government, also attended the event. The meeting was presided over by Du Shigen, Deputy Secretary General of BRLC and Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Hangzhou Municipal Government.

Hangzhou and cities in Latin American and Caribbean area obtained close connection ever since the Secretariat of BRLC was permanently settled in Hangzhou. Zou Xiaoli (Chinese Ambassador to Argentina) attended the ceremony as the crucial referrer that helped The Argentine Chinese Council and the LAC China Business Federation join BRLC. According to Xiao, it had been the best choice to join in BRLC for LAC China Business Federation, consisting of 10 chambers of commerce from 9 Latin American countries, and The Argentine Chinese Council. It improved relevant cities’ economic and trade relationship, strengthened strategic complementarity, facilitated the implementation of integrated projects. In the long run, the regional collaborations in Asian-Pacific and Latin America zones were enhanced, the global economy retained recovery and revitalization. 

Gu Chunxiao introduced that the number of BRLC member kept growing during the past four years. As of now, 63 foreign members and 20 domestic members had joined BRLC. In the near future, the core task was still keeping improvingurban exchange and cooperation among cities along the path of Belt and Road initiative through the updating of BRLC platform, which could specialize and realize the effective cooperation!Meanwhile, he expressed the expectation that the two new members would not only actively participate in and give suggestions to BRLC, but also encourage more LAC cities to join BRLC, so as to further achieve international cooperation goals.


In the ceremony, two new members talked about their confidence in bilateral trade cooperation. Rafael Valdez Mingramm, President of the LAC China Business Federation stated that China was in the significant position and played vital roles in globalization. The cooperation between Latin America and China ramped up and more projects awaited to be put into practice in Latin America.

Ernesto Fernández Taboada, Executive Secretary of The Argentine Chinese Council, demonstrated that the cooperation between Argentina and China complied with mutual benefits and win-win outcomes. As China’s digital economy and new energy industry were booming, both sides would explore innovation mode in cooperation in the future.

Bernadia, Secretary General of UCLG ASPAC, congratulated the two new members on joining BRLC officially and mentioned that UCLG ASPAC would continue supporting the Belt and Road cooperation considering the rapid development of BRLC in recent years.
