BRLC Secretariat Invited to Global Youth Leadership Training Program

2021 Global Youth Leadership Training Program, a short-term training program of Xi’an Local4Action Hub, was convened virtually from August 10 to 12, 2021. Secretariat of UCLG ASPAC Committee on Belt and Road Local Cooperation (BRLC) was invited to the event.

Under the “UN 2030 sustainable development goals”, this training program focused on “Urban Governance Modernization and Urban Sustainable Development”. As a perfect opportunity, the attended young officials can discuss about significant topics such as cases in urban governance, poverty alleviation, big data, ecological civilization.

The training started at 16:00, August 10 (Beijing time) and consisted of “China’s Practice under Sustainable Development Goals”, “Poverty Alleviation and Rural Revitalization”, “Population and Sustainable Development of the Society”, “Refined Public Security Management Supported by Satellite Remote Sensing and Urban Spatial Data”, “Ecological Civilization in Urban Governance”, and other lectures. More than 120 civil servants of local and regional governments and college teachers and students from 16 countries were attracted to the event.


The proposal of setting up BRLC, within the framework of the World Organization of UCLG ASPAC, was jointly initiated by the Hangzhou Municipal Government and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. In May, 2017, it was inaugurated at the 1st Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, with the Secretariat of UCLG ASPAC committee on BRLC located permanently in Hangzhou. Since the establishment, committee has executed according to the mission of Openness, Cooperation, Sharing and Win-Win. BRLC, based within the framework of UCLG ASPAC, is to be committed to integrating the Belt and Road Initiative to various and practical programs and activities of exchanges and cooperation among local governments, providing opportunities in cooperation with regards to economic trades, cultural connections, social governances and other perspectives. Up to now, UCLG ASPAC committee on BRLC has attracted 77 members from 29 countries.
