The 2020 BRLC International E-commerce Training Workshop was Held Online

From November 16, 2020 to December 31, 2020, the Third BRLC International E-commerce TrainingWorkshopwas held online. It was jointly sponsored by the BRLC Secretariat and UCLG ASPAC Secretariat and organized by Taobao University of Alibaba Group. Government officials and representatives ofe-commerce enterprises from various cities and countries participated in this event through online video conference. The training had three themes: "The Future is Here", "Key Trends & Chinese Digital Innovation in the Internet Era", and "Cross-Border Best Practices". Focusing on areas includingNew Marketing, New Retail, New Finance, and New Manufacturing and explaining Live Commerce and other hot topics in 2020, the courses introduced Hangzhou's experience to the world, aiming to promote the city's cooperation with partners ine-commerce and facilitate its economic recovery.

BRLC International E-commerce Training Workshop has been held three times since 2018. This year, it was for the first time held online due to the impact of COVID-19 epidemic. Harizal is one of the participants from Indonesia. He said the e-commerce training workshop was a great platform for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs from all over the world. He proposed jointly establishing a digital exhibition hall where the best products of different countries can be showcased. This would see a huge market potential. Claudia Bettiol from Italy shared that participating in this impressive workshop inspired him to explore new business opportunities in the Italian market.

The BRLC was jointly initiated by Hangzhou Municipality and the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries in April 2017 and the Secretariat was settled in Hangzhou permanently. Since its foundation, the Committee, adhering to the principles of "openness, cooperation, sharing and win-win", has been active in mobalizing resources for innovators and business start-ups and in building platforms for communication and cooperation. It has sponsored and organized a series of cooperation programmes which have achieved good results. There are 77 members from 29 countries in the Committee right now. Confronted with the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, the Secretariat of the Committee strived to explore new ways of communication. A scholarship scheme was rolled out and the official website of the Committee was open to public. The Committee also hosted and participated in the video conferences with UCLG, UCLG ASPAC and the Metropolis. All this demonstrates the resolve of the BRLC to enhance international cooperation on battling Covid-19 and to boost economic recovery.
