UCLG ASPAC Council Meeting Held Virtually, Reappointing Hangzhou to Serve Consecutively as Member of the Executive Bureau and Council

UCLG ASPAC Deferred Council Meeting was held virtually on the afternoon of 25 February. Hangzhou was reelected member of the Executive Bureau and Council of UCLG ASPAC.

Hangzhou has a close bond with UCLG. It has been a member of Metropolis, which is currently a part of UCLG since 1998, and became a member of UCLG ASPAC Council and Executive Bureau in 2018. In 2017, Hangzhou Municipal Government and Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) jointly established UCLG ASPAC Committee on the Belt and Road Local Cooperation (BRLC) within the framework of UCLG ASPAC. Since then, BRLC Secretariat, which is located in Hangzhou, has been actively undertaking its duties, promoting international cooperation and deepening the relationship with UCLG. 

The conference released Manifesto 2021–2025 and elected the Council and Executive Bureau members as well as president and co-president for 2020-2022. Ashok Kumar Bayajnu, regional representative from South and Southwest Asia and president of Municipal Association of Nepal, was elected the new president of UCLG ASPAC. Former president Tri Rismaharini and former co-president Song Jingwu made farewell speeches.
