The Observation and Learning at the 2050 Conference Is Successfully Organized by the BRLC

The UCLG-ASPAC Committee on the Belt and Road Local Cooperation (BRLC) held an observation and learning at the 2050 Conference from 26 to 29 April 2019. For the event, about 80 science and technology youth representatives were invited for visit and exchange in Hangzhou from 26 countries including the United States, Russia, Italy, Finland, Japan, South Korea, Nepal, and Bangladesh.

During the 2050 Conference, the BRLC Secretariat hosted a BRLC reunion forum with the theme of “City, Technology and My Story”. The forum gathered a number of founders of technology companies and young researchers of universities and institutes from the United States, France, Japan, South Korea, and India to share experience about successful projects in their corresponding fields. Their speeches focused on innovation and entrepreneurship in technology, with topics covering AR applications, drones, AI, smart cities and others. For example, an American speaker named Robert talked about how global AR applications will change people's views and use of the AR technology around the world; a Japanese guest named Kawanoue introduced innovative applications of drones in a number of scenarios; Chinese speaker Shen Chuanli explained the roles that an innovation center plays in building Hangzhou into the No. 1 city of emerging digital economy; and a French guest named Milader shared some methods and proposals with regard to “international entrepreneurship”.

In light of the interests and concerns of the representatives, the Secretariat also organized for the youth representatives to observe and learn from the Next Gen Forum, Explorer Space and other hot activities of the 2050 Conference and arranged icebreaker and team building games, project bridging and visit to Alibaba, Hangzhou Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park for International Talents, China Artificial Intelligence Town, Dream Town and other places so that they could experience Hangzhou's advancement in cutting-edge technologies and innovation and entrepreneurship environment.

The four-day observation and learning provided an opportunity for the young people from cities along the Belt and Road to exchange ideas and seek win-win cooperation, and it served as a platform for the participants to envision the future and explore the unknown.
