"I like Guzheng, Guqin, and Erhu with a melancholic feature. I have been living in China for six years. I have never had a chance to hear a Chinese concert before. I am glad to watch this performance", said Vyara from the UK.

On December 12, the BRLC New Year Concert, "Echoing Silk Road Culture: Staying Committed to A Shared Future," was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Staying in Hangzhou, foreigners, international students, citizens, and representatives from the Belt and Road going-out enterprises and BRLC partners got together to experience Chinese and Western romance in melodic music.

Hong Yin, the conductor of Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra, performed the concert. It kicked off in the lively and magnificent overture of Ruslan and Lyudmila. Sabre Dance and Bengawan Solo depicted the folk customs of countries and regions along the Belt and Road. Voices of Spring, Thunder and Lightning, Moon River, and other classical and modern repertoires were staged sequentially. The traditional folk songs of China, such as Purple Bamboo Melody and Flower Duet, were reinterpreted in an orchestral manner to form the dialogue between China and Western countries jointly, constitute the auditory feast integrating the past and the present, receive prolonged applause from audiences, and create a peaceful and cheerful atmosphere of New Year.

2023 is the year of hosting the 19th Asian Games and 4th Asian Para Games. Citizens and foreigners who live, study, and start a business in Hangzhou have witnessed the development and growth of the city. "More and more foreigners come here to live and work, and Hangzhou Asian Games allows the world to know more about this beautiful city," said Lee Hughes in an interview.

2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. In 2017, the UCLG ASPAC Committee on the Belt and Road Local Cooperation (BRLC) was established at the First Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, and its secretariat was permanently located in Hangzhou.
