A Brief Introduction to the UCLG ASPAC Committee on the Belt and Road Local Cooperation

The UCLG ASPAC Committee on the Belt and Road Local Cooperation (the BRLC) was jointly established by Hangzhou Municipal People's Government and Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries within the framework of the United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC). The BRLC Secretariat is located in Hangzhou.

The BRLC has set a series of goals and tasks based on its “open, cooperative, sharing and win-win” tenet, including: building a global platform; focusing on problems and exploring government solutions to them; sharing experience to improve governance of cities; facilitating exchanges and establishing partnerships; organizing trainings, seminars, forums, study tours and other activities.

Since the establishment in 2017, the BRLC has carried out a great number of productive international exchanges and cooperation. In the future, based on the UCLG, the BRLC will continue to make efforts in integrating the Belt and Road Initiative into local governments and building a cooperative platform featured by experience and resources sharing and mutually-beneficial and win-win situation in economic development, cultural education, urban and rural governance and many other fields through practical exchange and cooperation projects and activities of different forms.
